Welcome back,

We hope you are keeping warm as winter descends on the Southern Hemisphere. This month our theme is Creative Thinking. As the world changes daily, being able to build your creative thinking skills helps you to problem-solve, innovate and adapt.

One way to encourage creative thinking at work is to ask questions. For example, ‘How can we improve/streamline this process? What would our key stakeholder’s perspective be on this issue? Who else could help us with this?’

Another way is for the team to keep an ideas journal, where any team member can share ideas that will help improve work. Every so often the team could decide on one idea and collaborate to implement it.

Reading widely also helps spark creative thinking. This month, Danette video book review is of Jefferson Fisher’s book, The Next Conversation: Argue Less, Talk More. Knowing how to improve your next conversation can definitely help you to explore new creative ideas with others.

Finally, one thing we do each week in our ML team meeting is to share something that we have learned in the previous week. Imagine if each person in your team tried one new thing a day or a week and then shared their learnings with the whole team. This would spark more creative thinking across your team.

Until next time, stay magical!
